Audrey has taken a liking to Pellegrino. Don't ask.
Anyway, it's fascinating to hear her describe what the fizzy water tastes like in her mouth. "It's spicy!" she says.
"It tastes spicy?" I say. "Or it feels fizzy?""It's spicy, daaad," she replies.
I guess adults attribute a feel or smell with a taste sometimes too. What does gin taste like, for example? (Probably not a great example for a blog about my kids, but roll with it.) Most people say pine needles. But have you ever eaten a pine needle? Hopefully not, but you've probably smelled them.
Audrey says lots of things are spicy - sometimes pizza with pepperoni, sometimes minty things, sometimes pasta with seasoning or pepper. Either her brain is learning what to attribute to "spicy" or she is limited by her two-year-old vocabulary, but I think it's great she thinks Pellegrino is spicy.
If only lollipops tasted like spinach and spinach tasted like lollipops, we'd be in business.
